CIMC ENRIC takes the lead in establishing the LNG import channel of South China through ISO Tank Container


Today, under the organization by CIMC ENRIC, the LNG purchased from Canada arrived at Shenzhen Yantian Port through LNG ISO Tank Container multimodal transport, which marks CIMC ENRIC successfully open the value chain “Canada – South China LNG Tank Container Multimodal Transport”.

 


These Tank Containers which carrying overseas LNG have completed the first LNG transaction in Shenzhen Natural Gas Trading Center , which has consolidated the status of Shenzhen as a natural gas trading hub city.

LNG Tank Container is available in the areas unreachable to natural gas pipelines because of its easy storage and transportation and reachability to end users. It is a flexible solution for the end users of natural gas. The tank containers used in the transport are manufactured by Nantong Energy, a member of CIMC ENRIC. The LNG in them was purchased by CIMC ENRIC from Canada, filled in Vancouver, transported to Shenzhen by sea through container liners and finally delivered to our end users in China.

The Success of the multimodal transport was due to the strong support of Shenzhen Customs and its subordinate Dapeng Customs, Qianhai Administration, Yantian Maritime Bureau, Yantian Industry and Information Bureau, CIMC Logistics, COSCO Logistics, YANTIAN International, Shenzhen Gas and Qianhai Joint Trading Center (in random order), etc.

In addition to the mode “ large LNG carrier + LNG terminals”, LNG Tank Container value chain is another mode of importing LNG by sea . It has the advantages of small investment, direct participation of small and medium-sized end users and basically no construction period and can meet peak regulation and supply and flexible gas use in time. As a new source of LNG supply, the trading of tank container makes LNG import more flexible and timely.

 


This is our first success in importing overseas LNG to Shenzhen through tank containers. In future, combined with the LNG power ship “tank changing and filling” mode, we will provide alternative “LNG fuel tank changing” mode for “ship oil to gas” business.

 


The successful construction of the value chain of overseas LNG gas source directly to domestic end users will also provide flexible and timely emergency gas source for Shenzhen and its surrounding cities, solve the contradiction between natural gas supply and demand during peak times, and improve the emergency peak regulation and supply capacity of natural gas in Shenzhen and even the Greater Bay Area.
